World Environment Day
World Environment Day is held each year on June 5. It is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations (UN) stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action. World Environment Day promotes ways to improve the Earth's environment, such as conserving forests.
Since its inception in 1974, the World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5 in more than 100 countries.
The World Environment Day provides an opportunity to broaden the “basis for an enlightened opinion and responsible conduct by individuals, enterprises and communities in preserving and enhancing the environment,” according to the United Nations.
Every year, the World Environment Day is organized around a theme in order to draw attention towards pressing environmental issues.
